Sandspoor - Self Catering Accommodation in St Helena Bay, West Coast
Sandspoor is the place where you can find the calm you seek and the tranquillity you need. Sandspoor borders the Groot Paternoster Private Nature Reserve on the one side with true West Coast landscape all the way to Paternoster. The ocean is just a few steps away, transforming your backyard with the brightest of blues or different palettes of grey, depending on its mood (or weather). With unobstructed views of the sunset over the ocean every night, Sandspoor offers accommodation in two units.
The first unit is a fully equipped two-bedroom house sleeping four adults and three children. The second unit is a separate flatlet that can accommodate two adults and two children. The house and flatlet have their own entrances and can be completely private. Sandspoor is in Duyker Eiland, the furthest point of St. Helena Bay.
Guests can enjoy breakfast on the porch whilst watching the dolphins play in the bay. Evenings can be greeted with a quiet walk on the beach whilst the sun paints the sky in colours no one can ever match. As soon as the sun sets, the starry sky takes over with splendour. During full moon, make sure you leave the curtains open to allow the bright light to wake you, providing you with a chance to study the moonlit beach below you. The experience of walking on the beach with the moon as your trusted guide is truly memorable.
True to the West Coast, the winter months turn the landscape into a green carpet decorated with flowers, whilst the dryer summer months attract the wildlife, including deer, to the garden. Bird lovers will not be disappointed and sometimes do not even require a lot of patience before spotting the graceful falcons or the noble and dignified owls.
For more adventure, you could walk the 12km distance along the coastline to the famous Paternoster to find some comforting refreshments at one of the many renowned restaurants.
During the quieter days, visit the rock pools to see a real starfish, sea urchins or even an octopus. The water may be cold, but the relaxed atmosphere is enough encouragement to be daring.
The house has an open plan indoor braai area, a comfortable lounge, large dining room table, laundry room and guest toilet on the lower floor. The top floor encompasses the two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, each with shower, basin, and toilet. Each room can open up to a large patio with covering against the wind so you can enjoy the breathtakingly views.
The flatlet is an open plan design with King Size bed, equipped kitchen, and sitting area. The en-suite bathroom still provides the necessary privacy. A double sofa bed can house two children. An outdoor braai can be arranged.
Your hosts, Jaco and Karien, cordially invite each guest to enjoy these wonderful homes as they do themselves, every day. Their desire is that every guest will be open to what the West Coast nature offers, connect with family on a closer level and find true calm amongst busy schedules.
