Paternoster Wine & Tasting Lounge is an experience to enjoy and to remember ….
By Tian van Taak
Like a select wine, this jewel on the West Coast has matured and grown in reputation as a must-stop for tourists and locals alike. This is the perfect place to celebrate that special occasion or to enjoy a day out with friends and family.
This month we visited one of my favourite spots, the Paternoster Wine & Tasting Lounge, to find out more about the duo who made this unique destination so popular.
Tell us more about your origin story; how did the Paternoster Wine & Tasting Lounge come about?
When Lucy & Jannie Steynvaard fell in love with the West Coast and decided to relocate permanently, they teamed up with Pieter (their son) and his partner Arno to design the Paternoster Wine & Tasting Lounge. It was only during the renovation of the premises that Pieter & Arno decided to exchange their corporate jobs for a life of wine in Paternoster.
We love the interaction and vibe you have here, what was the reason behind the idea and what did you want to bring to your customers?
Pieter, an architect by trade, created a space where people could relax and get excited about wine without pretense and with a focus on indulgence. Arno’s focus is the wine selection, tasting experience and integrating the team into the wine industry for knowledge exposure.
Explain your Sabre experience to us, we love the idea and it is definitely something to add to your to-do list when visiting Paternoster.
One of the most exhilarating feelings is opening a bottle of Cap Classique with a sword (Sabre in French). The wine lounge is a place of celebration and we can show anyone how to do this. In February you can celebrate
